My Board Exams Prayers

I have believed that without faith and prayers in anyway, you wouldn’t succeed. So I compiled the novenas and prayers that I did while I was studying for my board exams. I promised to share this to everyone so I’m listing them all down here.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have mercy on us sinners, and grant us the grace which we ask of You, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your tender mother and ours.

Hail, Holy Queen, our mother of mercy…our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry poor banished children of Eve.  To thee do we set up our sighs, morning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn thee then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary…Pray for us O loving mother of God that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ…Amen.

St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas

Creator of all things,
true source of light and wisdom,
origin of all being,
graciously let a ray of your light penetrate
the darkness of my understanding.

Take from me the double darkness
in which I have been born,
an obscurity of sin and ignorance.

Give me a keen understanding,
a retentive memory, and
the ability to grasp things
correctly and fundamentally.

Grant me the talent
of being exact in my explanations
and the ability to express myself
with thoroughness and charm.

Point out the beginning,
direct the progress,
and help in the completion.

I ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer to Blessed Pedro Calungsod

My Lord,

In your grace,
you have shown through your
servant,
Beato Pedro Calungsod,
the sublime prize of following
you;

Through his martyrdom, you
have shown us that age and
race will not hinder us from
serving and loving you;

His youthful fervor in
defending the faith earned him
the title to be called Blessed;

Thus in confidence,
I humbly call unto him to pray
with me, and to intercede for
this urgent favor
(make a request) and that through
his glorious life, I may try
to emulate him, together
with Mother Mary, who
have without reserve said
yes to your will.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Manaoag

Virgin Mother of God, Queen of the most Holy Rosary, thou, who hast chosen to raise thy throne of mercy in Manaoag, to be the beloved protectress and Patron of the Province of Pangasinan, and therefrom to bestow thy graces on us, thy children, banished in this valley of tears, look down with thine eyes of mercy upon me, who am beset with so many dangers of body and soul. Despite not my petition, O dearest Mother, but intercede for me before thy divine Son now and at the hour of my death. Amen.

Virgin of Manaoag, pray for us.

Prayer to Our Lady of Namacpacan

O Blessed Virgin of Namacpacan, we pray that you intercede especially for us, for the sake of your image which you have given for our veneration and edification, in order that we may be saved from famine, pestilence and war.

Make O Loving Mother, the sinful pleasures of this world which would lead us to perdition and death, appear and taste stale and insipid to us, so that we may realize our mistakes and be welcomed back into God’s grace and love.

Obtain for us Mother Dearest, all the graces we aspire for in this life, that we may know and be resigned to the Divine Will throughout our earthly life and thus merit eternal bliss in the kingdom promised by Jesus Christ your Son for ever and ever. Amen.

(3) Hail Mary

Prayer to St. Jude

Oh glorious apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered thy beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused thee to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes thee universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so miserable; make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded thee of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly (mention your request), and that I may bless God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise thee, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor thee as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to thee. Amen
Hope these prayers help you on your exams and in any problems that you may have. 😉

The Gettysburg Battlefield Monument

One of my trips included going to this very historical place in Pennsylvania. It commemorates the Battle of Gettysburg which is one of the biggest and deadliest single battle of the American Civil War. The place is huge and had lots of monument which I haven’t had time to actually read everything written on it. I just took lots of pictures and decided to just research it later on. I most like the architecture and structures of monuments there. I still have to learn more about the history though. 😉

The Griffith Observatory

The Griffith Observatory

I was very lucky to be able to go to an observatory since I love looking at the stars and trying to figure out the constellations. As I went at daytime, I really didn’t get a chance to see it first hand; but seeing everything inside is fortunate enough. So, as you see in the picture, that’s me and the observatory behind me. Lots of people were jogging over there and like me, there were lots of tourists too.

The Griffith Observatory, from what I have learned during my day trip there, is one of the most popular attractions in California. It’s located at Mount Hollywood and overlooks the Hollywood sign on the other side of the mountain. You would also see Los Angeles City’s top view (which I think is really cool). It is named after Col. Griffith who donated the land for its stature. Exhibits inside includes the planets, stars, moons, discoveries, telescopes, and more about astronomy. It’s also a famous place for filming movies including Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

I would go there once again, if given the chance, to see meteor showers and see the constellations at night. 😉

Georgetown

One of the interesting things I have gone to is Georgetown in Washington D.C. It’s a historic neighborhood and both a commercial and entertainment district. Me, my mom and my aunt have been to the shops and restaurants and it’s very beautiful, both in the morning and night. I like the night more than the day time since I see more people and it’s more interesting. Maybe going there during the day is a good way to breathe, refresh and relax.

The picture shows the PNC bank at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and M Street. Lots of high-end shops and restaurants are situated there and it’s also the home of Georgetown University (where I really like the sunset over there) and the Old Stone House. Some famous persons who lived in Georgetown are Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Bell, Francis Key and John F. Kennedy. Many movies were also filmed at Georgetown.

Abandonment Issues

I feel kinda sad the past few days and today, when I woke up from nap, I felt really sad. I feel neglected and that I am unworthy of anything. And that I don’t deserve things to go well and that it must be too good to be true. It took me from 6pm to 8:30pm to contemplate things and it did made me more sad. I felt like God is silent and wasn’t giving me any answer. But I know that God has not abandoned me. I know that he’s just silent making me reflect and learn more about things and somehow I made positive thoughts by the end of my “reflecting”..

First, it made me think about the plant and the root that I was telling you about. I used to kinda push people away, or I let them get close but not really close. I suddenly realized that me having this kind of things are rooted to all the relationships – may it be family or boyfriend/girlfriend relationships. I think it made me fear more like if one person can discard you, we fear that other people would actually do the same thing. And it’s bad because sometimes it goes deep within the person and sabotages relationships. It’s amazing how fear blocks us from seeing possibilities and it clouds our perceptions about the people around us.
I also thought of it as a temporary experience and it directed to emotional and spiritual growth. I believe that things like this will come to an end even if it’s not so soon. It’s one of God’s trials and it always has a purpose where we can benefit from its results. Sometimes God uses this too to make us aware of His presence in our life. “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” – Romans 8:18
With making the unconscious things conscious, I hope to become better and feel better.

Third Year

As i entered the life of being a junior student of UST taking up pharmacy, I know things should have been easy. But it’s not. Knowing tjat I have many responsibilities with the organizations i’m involved in. It comes to my mind that I should be starting to do things now. But no, something happened. And I don’t know if i would share it to the world. Things are getting miserable and worse right now. I can’t do anything with fate. I hope I’ll be able to surpass all these challenges. I look unto God. Staying strong, keeping the faith and always praying. I hope all my worries and all the things I feel right now would soon disappear. I’m also doing novena to St. Jude but I guess it’s not really in my hands right now. I’m kind of hopeless with everything in life. I want to thank my friends for always being there for me. I love you all. I love you God.
